Navy Blue and White Bedroom

So I decided that the theme for my Bedroom is going to be navy blue and white. I wanted something more traditional that will look timeless for years to come. The navy and white is actually pretty trendy right now in decorating too, but I feel there is a way to achieve that trendy colour scheme and still have it look timeless and traditional.  Here is the mood board that I have made to represent the theme I am trying to achieve.

Since all the furniture in my room is white I thought the dark colour of the navy blue will be a nice timeless contrast against the white. I have currently bought a white coverlet for a bed that will act as nice neutral against the bold accent pillows I will be using on the bed.

But what really got be started on this whole navy blue and white theme is when I was at the fabric store and I found this navy blue and white houndstooth sheer fabric for 2 dollars a meter. I thought it would be prefect for a light and airy curtain... here is a picture of the fabric(again terrible picture).
The only dilemma I have now is what colour to paint the room, should it be a light grey-blue, an off white, or go crazy and paint it a navy/indigo blue. Any suggestion I would love to hear from you.

Here comes the paint!

I am doing it and I have decided, The Lime green bedroom that has taken me through my tweens and teens is about to painted over and transformed. I know a few weeks ago I said that I was going to just keep my lime green bedroom and just spruce it up a little bit. But things have changed in the past week or so I am ready to say goodbye and spend a little money fixing it up. My bedroom at my family home will most likely become be guess bedroom when I am at school in the house I rent (that bedroom can be seen here). So the theme for the new room will be neutral and tradition, somewhere that guest can feel welcome. More about the theme of the room later on this week!

Anyways I did clean up my bedroom from how you saw it last... which was here. So here it is now, still bright lime green.
Lots of random pictures... I know I need to work on my camera skills... I swear these pictures make my room look worst then it actually is.

and can you say Ikea... because more then half of it is from there!

Here is the dresser that I just transformed, that can be found here

So here is my room as it is right now... hopefully some paint and new fabrics will make this room seem more like a sophisticated guest room. My budget for this bedroom makeover in only 200 dollars, it will be diffult but fun to see what I can pull together. I don't think it will be as hard as I think it will be because all the furniture is staying (since it was the bedroom furniture that my mom has when she was little)... so I really just have to work with what I already have. So stay tune to see how it all turns out!

Transforming Lenda Curtains

Sorry for the late post, but I did successfully transform my Ikea Lenda tab curtains in to pitch pleat curtains.

Here is what the Lenda Curtains originally look like....

The first thing I did was cut off the tabs, so I could have a straight top to make a pleats, then I followed this simple tutorial by Natty by Design on how to make pitch pleat curtains. The reason I choose to use these ikea curtains rather then material is because it was cheaper, it was 29.99 for two curtain panels and I needed four panels to do two windows. Therefore It was 15 dollars per panel which was pretty cheap, almost half the price of using material. Plus the curtain panels were already all the same length and the sides of the panels were stitched!

So here is the finished product... sorry for the terrible pictures.... my living room is worst place for pictures during the day, the lighting is terrible. Also we still need to paint the living room and dinning room because the colour is terrible with the white curtains.

These pictures are terrible, hopefully I can take better ones when we repaint.

Before and after!

Before

After

I think the curtains add a little something to the room, makes the ceiling look a little taller, since the ceilings are only 7.5" feet.  Have you guys made any curtains lately, if so I would love to hear about it.
