Here is a few of the pieces I have found by the curb, can you believe it?!
Sorry I don't have any before and after pictures, all of these pieces I have had for a couple of years.
1.
Found: on the side of the road when heading to the beach
Before: It was just a wooden frame with no table top. It really looked like four pieces of wood.
My dad comment was "it looks like firewood to me."
Process: Took the table apart to sand it down, it was interesting how it was put together with dowels. So I had to use wood glue to put the table back together. Stained it blue a colour I randomly had in my garage. Got one square foot of glass tiles for 10 dollars and also crushed left over tile I had from my kitchen floor. Then glued and grouted the tile on a piece of ply wood I screwed to the table frame.
After: Now I have a one of kind table that everyone falls in love with for less then 20 dollars.
2.
Found: My mom and dad found this table around my neighborhood on garbage night.
Before: We were lucky it was already striped to its original wood.
Process: Mom and I painted it a white and de-stress it a little to give it a old country look.
After: We use it in the kitchen to put newspaper in that needs to be recycled.
3.
Found: on the side of the road
Before: A bright kelly green it must of has about 5 layers of paint on it. The top of the cabinets was bubbling up because it wasn't real wood. However the rest was solid wood.
Process: Sanded and sanded and then sanded some more. Then eventually stained it and then I put screwed ply wood on the top and lay down tiles. Tile cost me 20 dollars and stain cost 6 dollars.
After: Have a awesome buffet cabinets for 26 dollars. I want to re stain this cabinet soon, I think it can look a lot better then it does. Let me know what colour I should stain it, should I go lighter or darker?
4.
Found: Mirror and the dresser in the basement of my mom's childhood house.
Before: The dresser and the mirror must of had over 10 layers of paint on it and also had really bad plastic handles.
Process: Used striper and did a lot of sanding, replaces the drawer handles.
After: For around 20 dollars my family's had a great front hall table and mirror.
5.
Found: Neighbors garage
Before: Everything was painted white
Process: Striped the paint, sanded and then stained. Use a wheel grinder to grind the handles back to original metal.
After: Beautiful free solid wood dresser
